Don’t worry, Black Screen of Death only effects computers with 32 processors
Softpedia has an unclear article title about Windows XP Service Pack 3 and Windows Vista Service Pack 1. While SP3 has been released to those who have a TechNet/MSDN Subscription or are a part of a major OEM, and SP1 has been out for approxmiately a month now, Softpedia is reporting that there is already an issue. While this may be true, it’s not as bad as they have raised the hype to be. The issue in question is KB951126 and refers to a multiprocessor computer that is running Windows Vista or Windows XP that stops responding on a black screen after you resume the computer from hibernation.
Sure, looking at this title may lead you to believe you might need this hotfix. But be sure to look fully at the articlle. Specifically this part: The computer has exactly 32 processors. Yes, you’re reading that right. To suffer from this issue your computer must have exactly 32 processors. Unless you’re running a supercomputer in your basement you really don’t have anything to worry about.
